Contemporary house starts on site

Work has now started on a new build house on a corner site in south London. The new home completes a row of Victorian terraced houses on a previously disused site.

In line with planning requirements, the carefully resolved façade is designed to complement the scale of the adjoining properties. Subtractions to the original outline reduce the mass, create key features and respond to the circumstances of the setting giving the distinctive final form. The predominant external material is handmade Danish bricks of a colour chosen to complement the adjoining Cambridge brickwork.

Key interior features include a large open plan living area leading on to a lower terrace and master bedroom and roof terrace with views over the surrounding area. Landscaped terraces and planting to the front and side enhance the streetscape. The highly sustainable specification includes innovative energy conserving technology.

The house will complete in July prior to the interior fit out.
