Music classroom for King Alfred School

A new music classroom completed in time for the new school year. The existing building was extended and refurbished throughout including an external timber cladding to complement other buildings on the school site.

A 40% increase in classroom space was achieved by extending the building to the front. New roof and roof lights were fitted, cloakrooms upgraded, acoustic windows and external cladding added, maximising the available budget. Designed with the end user in mind and the limitations of acoustic glazing, a rhythm of window shapes, sizes and positions respond to the varying heights of the young children.
