New kitchen for Michel and Alain Roux
“Alex and his team immersed themselves completely in understanding what Alain and I needed and the timing and precision required to run our kitchen here at The Waterside Inn. This translated into a wonderful kitchen which does everything we need it to do.” Michel Roux
Following completion of neighbouring Tan Home for Alain Roux, a new state-of-the-art kitchen at The Waterside Inn is now open after closing for the longest period in its history for a major refurbishment. Typically a project of this scale would be on-site for 6 months however the work was carried out in just over 3 months, ensuring the commercial viability of the project.
Bespoke throughout, the project includes the latest in technological advances, requiring more than 25 different specialist companies with over 100 operatives working on site. Alain Roux had a clear idea of the equipment he wanted and sustainable considerations, such as integral energy saving devices, were an important part of the choices made to minimise the new kitchen’s impact on its environment. A heat recovery system is used for cooling and drainage is via a specialised fully bio-degrading treatment unit. High specification acoustic dampening reduces the noise impact of the roof top plant equipment, which is hidden for aesthetic reasons.
From the initial design stage of the project, it was clear a detailed, precise approach would have to be adopted within the design team and the contractors on site. This would be essential for so much to be achieved in such a relatively short period of time.
