Riverside residence for Alain Roux
A new build, award winning, riverside residence is now complete for acclaimed chef Alain Roux. Adjacent to The Waterside Inn on the banks of the River Thames, the two-storey building contains spacious open plan ground floor accommodation with panoramic river views.
The riverside location, in a flood storage zone and a Conservation Area presented a demanding brief. Planning was achieved with a design sensitive to the 16th Century environment, an appropriate choice of materials and style cloaks a modern construction. High thermal mass insulation is one aspect of the latest construction detailing exceeding current building regulations. The proximity to the river offered the opportunity for sustainable heating using a ground breaking water-to-water heat exchange system. The system provides heating and hot water for minimal annual cost. Solar panels are another feature installed to minimise the carbon impact of the building.
